The International Minyan for New York City Marathoners will once again be held at Fort Wadsworth, the marathon staging area on Staten Island, prior to the 43rd running of this world-famous race on November 4.
Three services are scheduled this year–at 8:00, 8:45, and 9:30 a.m.–to accommodate the many Jewish runners worldwide who are expected to attend. Participants are encouraged to bring their own siddurim, tefillin, and talleisim; for those runners who have opted not to check any personal baggage at Fort Wadsworth before the race, the minyan organizers will have a limited supply of these religious items.
This will be the 30th consecutive year of the minyan, which is organized and managed by JRunners. It is believed to be the longest-established religious service of any kind at a sporting event anywhere in the world, and traditionally draws participants from all across the United States and six continents.
