Athletics @ Hillel Day Camp are off to a fantastic start! Leagues and clinics are in full swing under the guidance of professional coaches and physical-education teachers. In addition to returning coaches who play and teach professional basketball, Hillel welcomes Coaches Leroy, Tony, and Ramone from the 5 Towns Basketball League. Under the leadership of Garyn Lieber, campers of all ages learn how to play a variety of sports, including hockey, soccer, basketball, flag football, and softball. Campers are taught basic and advanced skills, and participate in small group instruction. League play is competitive, respectful, and well-balanced.

Athletics in Hillel are not limited to the gym and fields, but are played on the links and the court (golf and tennis at Lawrence Country Club), at the dojos (Pakua and Warren Levi), and at the sudios (Fitwize and Avid Fitness).

Evan Leibowitz, the director of Hillel, commented, “So much can be learned from sports and athletics. We understand that one size doesn’t fit all, and we provide something for all of our campers focusing on their own levels and abilities. We even have a league opt-out program for campers who want to focus on other activities such as chess, STEM, and arts-and-crafts.”

Aside from Hillel’s “on staff” coaches, the campers are eager to discover the identity of special guest coaches who will sign autographs and participate in clinics and activities. Will Hillel 2019 be able to match the NY sports stars that have to camp in the past? Stay tuned …
