On Wednesday evening, June 27, under a gloomy and sometimes misty sky, over 125 guests converged on the home of Alan and Sharon Shulman for a spectacular barbecue and fine Israeli wine-tasting at their home in West Hempstead. This was the Shulmans’ third time volunteering to host the event and, as always, Alan’s Main Event-Mauzone Catering did an outstanding job. Everyone enjoyed the fabulous BBQ fare! OIF thanks Main Event-Mauzone for matching all gifts of $1,000 or more, which made the event that much more successful.
The event was enhanced by the appearance of Vered Ben Sa’adon, winemaker and owner of the Tura Estate Winery in the Shomron. Together with Yehoshua Werth and Tzvi Lauren from Heart of Israel Wines who presented a dazzling display of amazing wines from all over Judea and Samaria, Vered poured some of her award-winning boutique wines and even spoke about her unique journey to Israel.
The Shulmans are longtime friends and supporters of One Israel Fund and have always gone out of their way to help in any way possible. They were honored with the Hakarat HaTov Award at the 19th anniversary gala dinner in 2013, have attended numerous day trips in Israel, and have encouraged their friends to do so as well.
OIF also thanks New York Fun Factory for donating all of the rentals for the evening, as well as Mosquito Seekers for making it a comfortable night for all. Thanks also to all the vendors who made the barbecue possible, including Jake Sojcher Photography, BiG Productions Video, Lighting by ANCO Group, A/V by Real to Reel, Kaufmann Bros. Printing, music by Young Leadership committee member Avi Bohorodzaner, and a special dessert by Rita’s Ices of Lawrence.
