the popular social media platform Instagram in an attempt to boost his

As of July 31,
the Instagram account under the handle “syrianpresidency” had more than 4,400 followers.
Most of the pictures uploaded onto the account feature Assad and his wife Asma
being warmly greeted by other officials as well as meeting with Syrian children
and adults who have been injured in the Syrian civil war.
2011, the Syrian civil war has resulted in more than 100,000 deaths and the
displacement of 1.7 million people, according to the United Nations.
