The new Biden regulations to protect against the new Omicron variant of the Coronavirus has created a temporary problem for Orthodox Jews in particular those on Saturday night flight to the US from Israel.

One of the presidents’ new policies calls for a PCR test 24 hours prior to arriving in the US. That is all fine and good and even prudent, but it does pose a problem for many Orthodox Jews on the Saturday night flight from Tel-Aviv to New York or other parts of the US. And that is because at PCR test requirement for that Saturday night flight would need to be done after 1am on Friday night.

Village of Lawrence, NY Office of Emergency Management Chairman, Dr. Marc Sicklick tells the 5 Towns Jewish times that he has communicated with our Congressional Representatives, Kathleen Rice and Tom Suozzi on the matter and that they are in touch with The White House.

This is a developing story that will be updated as information is received.

  1. This rule is the most ridiculous yet. My daughter flew this past week and tested about 40 hours before her 11:45pm flight. They let her on because the dates were right. My mother-in-law tested 30 hours before her flight the next night at 12:45am and they wouldn’t let her on because her flight was a few minutes after midnight and a different date.
