The senior sophisticates of the Five Towns and Far Rockaway Bikur Cholim knew that they were in for quite a treat when they saw easels of Peshi Haas’s extraordinary artwork displayed in the foyer of the Mandelbaum residence.
Mrs. Haas welcomed the ladies with an introductory art lesson, explaining to the women about the famous artists and their different styles.
The ladies were given individual mirrors and asked to sketch themselves. They did an amazing job on their self-portraits. One lady in particular was a graduate of Pratt University and worked in fashion for decades. Mrs. Haas was so impressed with all of the ladies’ different takes on their individual pieces of art.
The women worked up quite an appetite after working so hard on their masterpieces. The volunteers, Rebecca Berger, Jackie Erlichman, Shoshana Jacobowitz, Chavi Mandelbaum, Devora Rosner, Lea Sod, and Daniella Wolfson, put together a beautiful luncheon. The ladies dined on salmon, sushi, wraps, pasta, salads, and desserts galore!
Thank you to the uber-talented Peshi Haas for giving the ladies an afternoon to remember. The women surprised themselves with their talents and walked out with the ultimate souvenir — their very own masterpiece!
Stay tuned for the next event, which will take place after the yomim tovim. Wishing everyone a shanah tovah u’metukah!
