On Monday, July 29, Howard and Martha Hershkovich of Woodmere hosted more than 40 Israeli Camp Simcha campers and counselors for a day of relaxation and fun. The campers, who arrived early that morning at JFK Airport, started off the day with their own minyan at Aish Kodesh, followed by a gourmet breakfast at the Hershkovich home. The group was then wowed and amazed by magician and illusionist Marc Garfinkel who put on a show for the kids.
The entertainment didn’t end there. Elisha Aryeh of Smiles Through Cars arrived with a collection of luxury sports and vintage cars for the campers to ride in and enjoy. After the exciting morning, the group toured Manhattan in style, aboard a double-decker bus, before finally making their way to Camp Simcha in Glen Spey, New York, where they will spend the next two weeks.
“These children experienced a day they won’t soon forget,” said Chai Lifeline’s Andy Lauber, who helped coordinate the activities. “Many thanks to the Hershkovich family for serving as gracious hosts to our campers and for bringing the joy of Camp Simcha to Five Towns.”
