A  fire broke out at around 2:30 Labor Day morning at the corner of Carroll Street and Kingston Avenue.

The building is a residential complex, but also houses a Girls dormitory for Chabad.

Firefighters and Hatzolah worked feverishly to rescue the people that could not make it out on their own, and B’Chasdei hashem there were no serious injuries.

Eight firefighters suffered minor injuries battling the flames and were taken to New York Hospital.

Officials say the fire is suspicious because of how quickly it spread.

The flames started on the second floor, where some construction had been taking place. It’s not known if that played a role in the fire.

It took close to 3 hours to get the blaze under control.
