Arsenal football player Emmanuel Frimpong has been charged by the Football Association (FA) with improper conduct after calling a fan of the rival team a “scum yid”.

While the 20-year-old midfielder soon removed the comment from the social networking site, it did not escape the attention of the FA.

The comments came in response to the rival fan telling Frimpong that he “prayed” that he would break his arms and legs.

Arsenal football player has been charged by the Football Association with improper conduct after calling a rival fan a “scum yid”.

“Arsenal Emmanuel Frimpong has been charged under FA Rule E3 for improper conduct in relation to recent comments made on Twitter,” read a statement on the FA’s website.

“The allegation is that Frimpong posted comments amounting to improper conduct and/or which brought the game into dispute, which included a reference to ethnic origin, faith or race.”

The player has until 4pm on July 27 to respond to the charge.

The charge comes after Tottenham player Danny Rose last week apologized for calling his own fans “yiddos.”

The term has reportedly been used for decades to identify Tottenham supporters because of the team’s large proportion of Jewish fans.

Many international football matches have gained notoriety for anti-Semitic chants, which often turn violent.
