A 4-year-old boy died on Thursday after being left in a parked car in the central town of Modi’in Illit.

On Thursday morning, the driver of the car offered to bring the child to kindergarten, but upon arriving around 8 a.m., forgot the boy was in the car and left him there, locking the doors. It is not clear whether the driver is a teacher at the kindergarten or a fellow parent.

When he remembered the boy several hours later, he rushed out to his car, found the child unconscious and called for medical assistance.

Paramedics arrived at 1 p.m. and found the boy dehydrated and without a pulse. Resuscitation efforts were not successful and the child was pronounced dead at the scene.

Temperatures In Modi’in Illit on Thursday reached approximately 33° Celsius (91° Fahrenheit).

Shmuel Segal, of the ZAKA emergency rescue team, said that tragedy was a result of human error.

Police opened an investigation into the incident.

  1. BDE – this is so sad, but it happens so often. When you take a kid anywhere, you should leave your cell phone or lunch box with him in the back, so you know that you have to check it.

Sad that a cell phone will remind you to look but not a child. However it might work
