The widely respected Wine Enthusiast magazine has awarded top ratings to a bevy of wines from the Golan Heights Winery. The tasting scores and ratings will be published in the September issue.

The Golan Heights 2011 Merlot was placed on the magazine’s Editor’s Choice list. Editor’s Choice wines are those that possess unique qualities that merit special attention in the opinion of the tasting panel. The full-bodied and flavorful wine scored an outstanding 93/100 in a blind tasting.

Only the finest wines are selected as Wine Enthusiast’s Cellar Selection, wines that are deemed highly collectible. Golan Heights Winery’s Yarden Cabernet Sauvignon 2011 is one such wine, with its spectacular score.

Golan Heights Winery’s ongoing commitment to producing excellent wines at affordable prices was evident with five wines assigned to the Best Buy list:

-    Gilgal Cabernet Sauvignon 2011 is a flavorful, drinkable Cabernet presenting good body and a long finish. With black currant and cherry fruit notes, this elegant wine has excellent potential for aging for years to come.

-    Gilgal Cabernet Merlot 2012 combines cherry, orange zest, and berry notes with a hint of fresh herbs. An equal blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grapes, this complex wine presents medium to heavy body with a satisfying flavor.

-    Hermon Red 2013, one of Golan Heights Winery’s most popular and best-value wines is wonderfully versatile, pairing equally well with a hamburger fresh from the barbecue or a hearty serving of lasagna. Ready to drink now, the Hermon Red will stay in excellent drinking condition for about four years from vintage.
