Stuart B. Almer, president and CEO of Gurwin Jewish Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, recently announced the appointment of Shua Sauer as the center’s new senior vice president and chief operating officer. “Shua comes to Gurwin at a pivotal time,” Almer said, “as we continue to navigate the changing healthcare landscape and also expand the breadth of the services we offer to our community.”
Sauer joins Gurwin after serving as chief operating officer at Eden Healthcare (Brooklyn, NY), an owner and operator of several skilled nursing care facilities in the Northeast. Prior to Eden, Sauer held leadership positions at Centers Health Care and Parker Institute for Health Care and Rehabilitation. He holds master’s degrees in healthcare administration and leadership, and is an adjunct professor at Hofstra University in Hempstead, where he teaches a course titled Long Term Care and Nursing Home Administration.
“Gurwin has a strong reputation as a 5-star quality rated facility, and I am looking forward to my new role on the administrative staff,” Sauer said. “I have long felt that caring for the generations that precede us is a way of giving back, and I enjoy my role in helping those who need it. The healthcare world is rapidly changing; I’m excited by the opportunity to join a team that not only understands the business of healthcare, but also understands the business of caring.”
Sauer lives in Kew Gardens Hills.
