HALB students have been using robotics, which is the science of designing, building, controlling, and operating robots. The excitement was palpable in Mrs. Rubel’s technology class as the fifth-grade students created their own robots with the Cubelets to gain an understanding of how they operate. They learned that a robot is a machine that can sense, think, and act on its own.
In order for students to form theories about the sense component of their robot, they investigate presenting varying input/stimuli to the Sense Cubelet. In this lesson, students practiced observing behavior and building understanding of stimuli/input and the correlation to reaction/output. Each group of students was eager to name and present their robot to the class.
