Welcoming Adar At Central
After a long winter, it is finally time to get into gear for Purim! Central welcomed Adar Bet on Thursday with its annual Ivdu Carnival, in which Yachad members from the Ivdu school were invited to join the Central student body for a morning of fun and games. Seniors prepared carnival booths in advance of the program, and student volunteers were paired with Ivdu students to guide them through the morning. As always, the morning was a huge success and a wonderful way to kick off Rosh Chodesh Adar Bet with a spirit of inclusion, festivity, and fun.
Sophomores Spend Shabbat at ‘Hotel Central’
Sophomore Shabbaton is a rite of passage for every Central student: a grade-wide sleepover in the school gym! Laura Fruchter, sophomore grade dean, said, “The sophomores truly brought the kedushah of Shabbat to our school” with their spirit, singing, and all around good nature.
The Shabbaton began with a Friday trip to Muddworks and a no-bake bakeoff in the school cafeteria. The students welcomed Shabbat together with a beautiful tefillah. Gilli Richman, Eliana Sicklick, and Betty Yuabov shared beautiful words of Torah at the various Shabbat meals, and grade representatives Michal Abraham and Abby Kogan planned a really fun Friday-night game. Relly Robinson and Michal Abraham also organized a game of Assassins.
Ms. Beverly Segal, Ms. Miriam Borenstein, Ms. Laura Fruchter, Ms. Rebecca Konigsberg, and Ms. Elana Kook also spent Shabbat at “Hotel Central,” and Mrs. Estee Shor and Ms. Oria Ziv walked over to visit on Shabbat afternoon. Ms. Fruchter said that she hopes “the feeling of this Shabbaton spills over to the weeks ahead and continues to strengthen your current friendships, your connections with faculty, and encourages you to continue to build new relationships.”
