WHAT YESHIVA WEEK?

This is Yeshiva week.  Before I get into that we need to describe what exactly it is and how it managed to attract and live with that moniker.  In one way it might be anti-Yeshiva week.  I mean a little time off from the usual routine is a good thing but on the other hand students have been off so much over the last year due to the pandemic.

And that is a sentiment and idea that you hear just about everywhere you turn.  And that is that our children have been off from school so often these last few months—so what are they being given another week off from school.  It might be true that you do indeed hear that all over except you don’t hear a word about those in airports or on airplanes.

Perhaps a better name for it would have been No Yeshiva Week, after all the one thing that distinguishes this week from other usual weeks of the year is that this week there is just no Yeshiva.  And the name of the week can be used in the same context of the name it is known by as in, “So what are you doing for No Yeshiva Week?” More in this weeks 5TJT.
