Hon. Ruchie Freier, the first female Hasidic judge in U.S. history, was invited to the Israeli President’s Residence for Chanukah. She was given an exclusive tour in the President’s chambers, and then had a meeting with President Reuven Rivlin.
The president said “I am very proud of her achievements and admire the fact that a Hasidic woman, mother of six children, serves as judge in the U.S. and inspires other ultra-Orthodox women.”
They discussed encouraging more charedim to reach high goals in education and that more charedim should join the justice system as well as the political field.
President Rivlin’s chief of staff, Rivka Ravitz, who is a charedi woman, was also in attendance at the meeting. She scheduled the meeting in coordination with political activist Osher Teitelbaum.
