I Congratulate Miami Beach Native Ron Dermer on Being Selected as the Next Israeli Ambassador to the U.S., and I Thank Outgoing Ambassador Michael Oren for His Service,” Congresswoman Ros-Lehtinen of South Florida says “Ron is as thoroughly committed to maintaining and strengthening the strategic partnership between the United States and Israel”
(WASHINGTON) — U.S. Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL), Chairman of the Middle East and North Africa Subcommittee, made the following statement regarding the announcement by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that Miami Beach native Ron Dermer will replace Michael Oren as the next Israeli Ambassador to the United States. Statement by Ros-Lehtinen:
“I extend my warmest congratulations to former constituent and Miami Beach native, Ron Dermer, on being appointed by Prime Minister Netanyahu to serve as the next Ambassador to the United States. I have known Ron and his family for many years, and I look forward to working with him in his new role. He has tremendous shoes to fill, as Ambassador Michael Oren has done an exemplary job representing Israel, but Ron is as thoroughly committed to maintaining and strengthening the strategic partnership between the United States and Israel.
And while I am happy for Ron and his family, I will also be deeply saddened to see my very good friend Ambassador Oren go. Michael has served Israel with honor and with distinction, and has been a tireless advocate for his country. Our two great democracies share more than just values and mutual interests, and Michael has played an integral role in making the U.S.-Israel relationship as strong as it is today.
I will miss working closely with my good friend Michael and I thank him for his friendship and service. My husband Dexter and I wish him, his wife Sally and their family all the best as they begin the next chapter in their lives together.”
