During a campaign stop this past Thursday in New York, President Barack Obama met with prominent Jewish leaders in an effort to build stronger relationships with the Jewish community. Among them was noted community leader Rabbi Abe Friedman, who told the president that the Jewish community looks forward to strengthening its relationship with both the Democratic Party and the Oval Office. Rabbi Friedman also thanked the president for his devotion to and support of Jewish communities throughout the nation. “I was truly honored to meet with President Obama and I thanked the president for taking the time to meet with Jewish community leaders in New York,” said Rabbi Friedman. “It was a special moment and an honor to meet the president.” Given the opportunity to have a few private words with the president, Rabbi Friedman recounted the recent words of the Satmar Rebbe, Rav Aharon Teitelbaum, shlita, to his followers at the gala celebration held in December commemorating the escape of the Satmar Rebbe, Reb Yoel, zt’l, from the Nazis.
