Jerusalem- Popular microblogging service Twitter has refused to remove postings on its website from the Islamic terror organization Hamas. The Twitter account in question, @AlqassamBrigade, links to the official website of the terror group's operational wing, the Izzadin Al Qassam Brigades.
Â
According to Honest Reporting, Jacob Shrybman -Assistant Director of the Sderot Media Center-Â contacted Twitter with a request to have Hamas' account terminated. In response he received an automated reply.
Â
"Twitter provides a communication service. As a policy, we do not mediate content or intervene in disputes between users. Users are allowed to post content, including potentially inflammatory content, provided that they do not violate the Twitter Terms of Service and Rules (name calling is not a violation) . . . .If a violent threat is posted in the future, please let us know, and send the status link."
Â
Shrybman expressed concern that the site's management would only take down the account after "Hamas tweets about the imminent launch of a missile attack..."
Â
Honest Reporting alleged that Twitter is "facilitating the propaganda efforts of a designated terror organization."
Â
Hamas' "tweets," as messages on the site are known, have 283 subscribed followers. Among the feeds that Hamas follows are the FBI, Anderson Cooper and American Idol.
