A much-needed ZAKA search and rescue ATV was inaugurated, donated by the New York-based Israeli businessman Mr. Boaz Bagbag and family.

The ATV, equipped with emergency medical and search equipment, will be used for search and rescue missions in off-road terrain that is not easily accessible to regular emergency vehicles. This is of particular importance, for instance, in fields around the Gaza periphery which have been targeted by Hamas incendiary kites.

Present at the ceremony, together with ZAKA volunteers, commanders and local Israel Police personnel, were Deputy Speaker of the Knesset Nava Boker, ZAKA Chairman Yehuda Meshi-Zahav and ATV donor Boaz Bagbag, who came from Manhattan’s Upper East Side for the ceremony in Ashdod.

ZAKA Chairman Yehuda Meshi-Zahav thanked Bagbag, and presented him with a certificate of appreciation from the organization. “I pray that we only meet on happy occasions. There is no doubt that your important donation will help save lives in Ashdod and the surrounding area.”

“I have no words to express my gratitude and esteem for the dedication of the ZAKA volunteers for the people of Israel in general and Ashdod in particular,” said Deputy Ashdod Mayor Avi Masalem. “In the name of the people of Ashdod, I thank Mr. Bagbag and each and every ZAKA volunteer for his holy work.”
