Nassau County Police were asked to NYPD Tuesday morning to find a person of interest.
While local residents reported the man had a weapon, police said that was not the case, and they were working with NYPD to locate a man wanted on an outstanding warrant.
At around 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday the Village of Cedarhurst send a message to residents stating that the person had been apprehended and the danger was over.
On Tuesday NYPD started searching for the person in Queens, and Nassau County was asked to help when the search moved over to the Five Towns.
A morning email from the Village of Cedarhurst read as follows: “Please be advised that there is police activity in our area. Schools have been placed on lock-down and all residents are urged to be on alert. We will keep you advised as to its progress.”
