High-school students have a myriad of outlets and hobbies to fill their downtime. It is quite common to find adolescent males playing sports, music, and even doing chesed. Over the past few weeks, Dovid Samson, a 12th-grader at Mesivta Ateres Yaakov, has used his spare time for registering members of the Five Towns and Far Rockaway community to receive the COVID-19 vaccinations.

When Dovid saw how difficult it can be for community members, particularly the elderly, to register for the vaccination, he proactively reached out to the JCCRP and offered his assistance. Since then, he has been a driving force for the JCCRP, working to get shots in people’s arms.

Moshe Brandsdorfer, executive director of the JCCRP, commented, “Dovid has been an invaluable asset to the JCCRP and the entire community. He has booked over 100 appointments to date. His volunteer work has been truly incredible and inspiring.”
