The Koren Sacks Siddur
Rabbi Sir Jonathan Sacks, Chief Rabbi of the United Hebrew Congregations of the British Commonwealth, is scheduled to speak at the Hebrew Academy of the Five Towns and Rockaway (HAFTR) on Thursday, May 21, at 2:00 p.m. Rabbi Sacks’s Long Island appearance is the final stop on a weeklong U.S. speaking tour marking the May 15 U.S. release of the Koren Sacks Siddur, for which Rabbi Sacks provided an inspiring English translation and commentary.

Rabbi Sacks is one of the world’s leading religious figures. He was educated at Cambridge University and Jews’ College London. He has served as Principal of Jews’ College London and President of the Council of Christians and Jews in the United Kingdom. He has been Chief Rabbi since 1991. Chief Rabbi Sacks is the author of numerous influential works, including The Politics of Hope, The Dignity of Difference, and The Home We Build Together.

The publication of the Koren Sacks Siddur marks the culmination of an extraordinary collaboration between Chief Rabbi Sacks and Koren Publishers Jerusalem, an Israel-based publisher of religious texts established in 1961 and renowned for its textual accuracy, intuitive design, and work with the finest contemporary Jewish thinkers.

Matthew Miller, publisher of Koren Publishers Jerusalem, says, “We are delighted to be bringing Chief Rabbi Sacks to HAFTR, where undoubtedly he will mesmerize students, faculty, and parents with his insight, passion, and eloquence. It promises to be an inspiring afternoon and a fitting conclusion to a weeklong celebration of the launch of the new Koren Sacks Siddur.”

Previous stops on Rabbi Sacks’s U.S. tour included Congregation Kesher Israel in Washington, DC, the Beth Tfiloh Congregation in Baltimore, and Congregation Kehilath Jeshurun in New York. I think it is important to ask Rabbi Sacks is he working to support Prime Minister Netanyahu in his brave and urgent campaign against the Palestinian state notion. A Palestinian state would put Jerusalem, Tel-Aviv and Ben-Gurion airport into rocket range. Millions would be in danger. Is Rabbi Sacks working in England and Western Europe to avert this danger and explain the dangers to his country's leaders.
