In an eclectic combination of musical and theatrical acts, on Sunday, December 9, rapper Nissim Black will be headlining two concerts in the Master Theater, 1029 Brighton Beach Avenue in Brooklyn at 2:30 and 7:30 p.m. The concert is being produced and directed by Zvika Bornstein, author, composer, and lyricist of many hit songs and musicals including his latest work, Yosef the Musical, with the music of Gad Elbaz. The concert will feature guest stars; Six13 a-capella group, funnyman Mendy Pellin, new young talent  Dovid Pearlman, as well as Shea Rubenstein of the JCC of Marine Park, who will be performing a few songs from his upcoming album Flying High.

But that’s not all folks, there is more! As in all of Zvika’s magical stage productions, expect the unexpected. Zvika has cooked up a new entertaining variety show with dancers, lights, comedy, and music, staring The Born Dancers, Illuminations Choir, Asher Laub–The Wonder Violinist, and an incredible light and sound show. The show is geared toward family entertainment, aged five and up. Trust me, you don’t want to miss this one!

The concert’s proceeds will go to benefit Aid L’Shalom, an organization that promotes and enables holistic healing as part of integrative therapy for cancer patients. Aid L’Shalom works hand-in-hand with Bronx-based Bruckner Oncology, a comprehensive cancer treatment center headed by miracle worker Dr. Howard Bruckner who will be receiving the lifetime achievement award for his work of saving and extending life and for his unwavering dedication to his patients.

Speaking of miracles, Nissim Black’s story is not that of a typical Jewish singer. Born Damian Jamohl Black, he was an American rapper from Seattle, Washington, who released two albums, The Cause and Effect (2006) and Ali’yah (2009).

He converted to Orthodox Judaism, and his writing style took a turn in 2012, when he began performing under his Hebrew name, “Nissim,” which means “miracles” in Hebrew.

The first recording released under his new name was “Miracle Music,” in 2013, and his first full album under his new name was titled “Nissim.” He also wrote and sang “The Black Miracle,” a Chanukah single produced by Aish.com.

In 2016, he collaborated with Gad Elbaz on the song “Hashem Melech 2.0.” The song has had over 350,000 downloads. In the fall of 2016, Nissim released his single “A Million Years,” which hit more than 1 million views on YouTube in one month. Other recent hit songs of his are “Fly Away” and “Lemala.”

Nissim has been touring the world, performing in the USA, Canada, Israel, Germany, Brazil, UK, South Africa, Dominican Republic, Jamaica, and more. In 2018, Nissim was featured on the BBC.
