Baby Boomers, Generation X, Millennials, Sandwich Generation, whatever labels you want to use, there is an entire generation of people who are relied upon as caregivers, both to their children, as well as to their aging parents.

It can be a confusing and overwhelming landscape to navigate on one’s own. Therefore, Ohel has created its family caregiver support group, to help caregivers who are going through similar situations share tips, stories, and advice with each other, and to show people that they are not alone.

Harriet Blank, Ohel’s geriatric director, says about the new program, “Caregiving is a universal responsibility which no one can escape, but being able to share experiences can lessen stress, give you ways to better cope, and help you do the job you do best: caring for and loving your family.”

Join Ohel’s new family caregiver support group; learn about new training ideas, techniques, and tips; and secure your own piece of mind. The Ohel caregiver support groups are led by an Ohel geriatric specialist, and fellow caregivers provide input on how best to address the challenges that we all face.

The Ohel family caregiver support group runs on the second and fourth Wednesday of every month, and there is both a 1:00 p.m. session and a 7:00 p.m. session. The first session will be taking place this Wednesday, December 25, at 125B Spruce Street, in Cedarhurst.
