Feb 17, 2015, NY, NY — The 9th annual Kosher Food & Wine Experience (KFWE 2015) welcomed more than 700 industry professionals during the daytime trade and press event and just over 1,700 guests for the evening event at the Metropolitan Pavilion in NYC to what has become the destination event for kosher oenophiles and gastronomes alike.

The New York City KFWE 2015, which tours Los Angeles, Miami, London and Israel as well, showcased the best of kosher wines and spirits from France, Israel and fine wine regions the world over, with several labels premiering at the show.

Among the new wines making their debut were Herzog Variations, (showcasing wines from California), Ovadia by Ovadia Bartenura, Flam Noble (the new flagship wine from Flam), Pavillon de Leovile Poyferre, (a new, young Bordeaux), Montefiore Kerem Moshe (the recently released flagship wine from the Montefiore winery), Herzog Single Vineyard Dry Creek (Herzog Wine Cellar’s annual single vineyard release), Matar by Pelter (which will be available late spring) and the offerings of Titora Winery of Modi’in, Israel, the latest boutique winery range to be imported and distributed by the Royal Wine Corp.
In all, the event featured over 340 different wines from Israel, Chile, California, France, Italy, Spain, Ukraine, Argentina, New Zealand, Australia, Washington, Oregon and New York and an assortment of 82 types of liquors and liqueurs from Spain, Colombia, Israel, Poland, California, Sweden, Mexico, Ukraine, Russia, St. Marten, Panama, France, Scotland, United Kingdom, New York, Michigan, Pennsylvania and California.

The event is produced each year by the Royal Wine Corporation (headquartered in Bayonne, NJ), the leading producer, importer and distributor of kosher wines and spirits in the world, with over 300 brands in their portfolio. Bartenura Moscato, The best-selling Italian Moscato in America overall (kosher or not) is one of Royal Wine Corp.’s own labels.

According to Jay Buchsbaum, VP Marketing & Director of Wine Education at Royal Wine Corp., “Kosher wine in America is big business — upwards of $28 million in sales and increasing at a rapid pace. In particular, Israeli wines are very much in demand. Israel is the region with the strongest growth in the kosher wine world, hands down. And critics are taking note too, in an upcoming issue of Wine Enthusiast, we have 90+ ratings on 30 wines!”

Trade and industry professionals from around North America descend on KFWE each year to discover new wines and spirits, learn about industry trends, and gauge trends in consumer preference, noted one buyer, “for a sales rep to bring me every bottle of wine in their portfolio to taste is unrealistic, but at this show gives me that opportunity. Every year I’ve attended I have found something new that I may not have known about or might not have ever had the chance to try.”

“This year’s KFWE was the biggest to-date in all aspects – we offered a larger venue, more wineries and additional food – beyond any past shows,” noted Jay Buchsbaum. “The venue was bigger this year by nearly 6,000 sq. ft., we had over 9 more wineries represented versus last year, and over 30 restaurants, caterers and gourmet food companies showcasing their signature dishes, 10 more than last year! We did this to accommodate the ever-increasing demand to attend the event by trade and consumers alike,” added Buchsbaum.

In addition to the bountiful wine offerings, this year’s KFWE featured more than 30 top kosher restaurants, caterers and gourmet food companies from the tri-state area, to complement its range of wine and spirits. The cornucopia of food included classical French cuisine, sushi, steakhouse favorites, traditional Jewish cuisine, nouveau American cuisine, charcuterie, fusion cuisine, Caribbean cuisine, authentic barbecue, Mexican cuisine and a variety of decadent desserts and specialty coffees.
