A record-shattering 500-plus attendees came out this past Monday evening in support of Our Place for the highly anticipated “Five Towns Foodie Event of the Summer.” This year’s event was highlighted by the barbecue trifecta put together by the Kosher Guru, featuring Izzy’s Smokehouse (Crown Heights), Judd’s Memphis Kitchen, and Graze Smokehouse (Cedarhurst). Together with delicious sushi from Eden Wok of New Rochelle and deluxe bar service throughout the evening, guests enjoyed unparalleled barbecued and smoked meats, awesome giveaways, and beautiful weather and clear skies, as they mingled with friends and watched competitive volleyball, all set up to perfection at the Stahlers’ beautiful Sutton Park estate.

“The energy was incredible; there was truly such a buzz, such a positive vibe throughout the entire event,” explained event co-chair, Michael Puderbeutel, whose company, Quicksilver Capital, participated as a top sponsor in the event.

This year’s 4th annual tournament, once again featured 16 teams, but after losing back-to-back thrilling championships in 2015 and 2016, it was Ezra Beren’s Manor Lane Bulldogs who emerged victorious, beating the Maidenbaum Tax Attackers in a competitive 11:30 late-night showdown. Despite savoring the victory, Beren was quick to point out “that as gratifying as it is for us to finally take home the championship after coming so close the past few years, it is really the teens of Our Place who are the ultimate winners. All of the players, all of the fans who come out–we only come out here to support Our Place’s phenomenal work in the community.”

Rabbi Aryeh Young, executive director at Our Place, was quick to acknowledge the role of this year’s corporate sponsors. “They all play such a large role in ensuring our event’s success. Of course, it begins with our main event sponsor, GFI Realty Services; platinum sponsors Maidenbaum Property Tax Reduction and Quicksilver Capital; gold sponsors MYDA Advisors, American Dream, Hartog Jacobs, and Barnard & Fifth; silver sponsors Gourmet Glatt, Transport Luxury Auto, the Valberg family, the Taub family, Riverside Abstract, Transport Luxury Auto, and Maidenbaum & Sternberg; and, lastly, our bronze sponsors, the Five Towns Jewish Times, SeniorCare EMS, RSPC, Eden Wok of New Rochelle, and Marzipan. It’s truly amazing how so many local community businesses continue to give back year after year.”
