x8Former Assemblyman Rory Lancman was the recipient of the Oskim B’Tzibur award from the Torah Center of Hillcrest at their annual banquet this past Shabbos. Lancman was honored for his service to the Jewish community during his six years as a member of the New York State Assembly, where he championed issues critical to the Jewish community.

“Rory Lancman has fought hard to keep the Jewish community safe from terrorism and to ensure that religious schools receive equal treatment,” said Howard Kohn, president of the Torah Center of Hillcrest. “Rory’s unwavering support for Israel and his commitment to serving the Jewish community made him an easy choice for this year’s Oskim B’Tzibur award.”

“The Torah Center of Hillcrest is a very important part of the Jewish community here in Queens, and I am humbled to receive this honor,” said Lancman. “It is so important for the Jewish community to have a seat at the table of government, because there’s an old political saying, ‘if you’re not at the table, you’re on the menu.’” v
