Shalom Task Force’s annual brunch is to take place on Sunday, May 4, at 10:00 a.m. at the Sephardic Temple (775 Branch Boulevard) in Cedarhurst.
STF was launched over 20 years ago to address domestic abuse in the Jewish community. Since its inception, more than 17,000 women have taken the first steps toward regaining their dignity by gathering the courage to call the STF confidential hotline.
The brunch will help raise the funds that STF needs to continue to deliver its many services. It provides a confidential hotline and supports Sarah’s Voice, a legal service empowering victims through legal advice and assistance. STF conducts education and prevention program for young adults and SHALOM Workshops for couples. The organization also supports community outreach and professional training to leaders and key participants in various communities in the tristate area.
This occasion will recognize Aviva and Yossi Hoch, Community Leadership Awardees, and Judy Silverman, Dedicated Service Awardee. It will also pay tribute to the memory of Rebbetzin Pess Epstein, a’h, one of the founders of STF. She was instrumental in creating the confidential hotline and the education programs.
