Camp Shira campers enjoyed a rocking Shimi Adar concert last week. Girls danced and cheered for an hour and a half straight. Campers then wouldn’t let her leave camp for at least another hour as they sang and chatted with her, and then they even got Shimi to go down the waterpark slide in her clothes!
Camp Shira campers were so excited for her visit that each camper made a tutu from scratch to match Shimi’s signature wardrobe item! The art room was filled with 16,000 yards of pink and purple tulle, and the girls made the tutus by looping and knotting the tulle in an elaborate fashion.
Shimi Adar is the premier Jewish entertainer for girls in the New York area and across America. Her ruach, energy, and passion are infectious, and her events feel like a cross between a rock concert, a kumzits, and a dance-off. One of the highlights was when many of the girls got to go up on stage and teach Shimi the words and moves to the Camp Shira 2018 theme song!
The campers loved the concert. One senior-division camper explained that, “Shimi is my role model! She makes Jewish music and dancing fun and cool!”
The concert was part of Camp Shira’s 2018 concert series that included concerts from Shloime Kaufman, Michoel Pruzansky, and Morah Music for the juniors. Those three Jewish music stars and this dynamic Shimi Adar concert helped the camp live up to its slogan: “Camp Shira: A Summer to Sing About!”
