The JSL Hockey League wrapped up its spring season with their championship games. It was an amazing season culminating in competitive and exciting playoff games and championships.
Having just completed its second year, the JSL Hockey League has taken the community by storm, featuring close to 250 boys from across the community.
“We are both camp guys,” say founders and directors Nachi Gordon and Tuli Urbach. “We realized there was a void during the long school year and kids and teenagers were missing the competitive and fun experience of playing sports. We know how important and valuable it is for children and teenagers to have healthy kosher outlets and we wanted to provide that niche to as many children in the community as possible.”
The JSL Hockey League hosts its games in Lawrence Middle School and offers leagues both in the fall and spring seasons for boys in pre-1A through high school.

HALB Girls Win Soccer Championship
After an undefeated season, the HALB girls soccer team beat YNJ 7-3 to become this year’s champions. The HALB lions started out strong. Within the first five minutes, Atara Sicklick popped in a quick goal to get the momentum going. YNJ Jaguars were fighting hard and had many breakaways but defenders Chana Spirn and Simona Goldberg challenged their offense and did not allow any shots. At the end of the first half, the score was 4-0.
At second half, both teams came out fighting but Naomi Sigman did not disappoint with another shot from the corner and then notched another assist to put the score at 6-0. Just as it looked to be a shutout, the jaguars pulled out all the stops and scored 3. But thanks to the swift hands of rookie goalkeeper, Tova Farber, the shots were kept to a minimum. With four minutes left, the lions scored once again for a final score of 7-3. The girls’ teamwork and middot were excellent on and off the court.
