JNS.org — Hundreds of St. Petersburg Jews, as well as Jews from across Russia and neighboring nations, will attend the Limmud FSU (former Soviet Union) conference in the New Peterhof Hotel from Oct. 25-27.
The three-day conference will offer about 80 seminars, presentations, courses and discussion events on topics ranging from Jewish spirituality, philosophy, ethics, politics, religion, art, and more. Prominent figures in history, science, art, politics, business, and education will present at the event, including famous Kiev-born Israeli actressÂ Helena Yaralova and fashion designerÂ Liliana Modigliani. The Israeli Consul General in St. Petersburg, AmbassadorÂ Eddie Shapira, will also attend.
There are about 100,000 Jewish residents in St. Petersburg, the second-largest community in Russia today. “St. Petersburg has one of the most vibrant and flourishing Jewish communities in Eastern Europe and we are thrilled to be part of it,” saidÂ Chaim Chesler, founder of Limmud FSU.
