With Election Day finally behind us, Teach NYS is happy to report that they’re in a good position to make more progress for Jewish day schools as we move into New York’s 2017 legislative session which begins in January.

The New York State Assembly will remain solidly under Democratic control and it appears that the State Senate will remain under the control of the Republican Conference led by Majority Leader John Flanagan.

It is anticipated that the Senate Republican Conference will bring the Independent Democratic Conference, under the leadership of Sen. Jeff Klein, into a coalition.

With strong allies in the Senate Republican Majority and Independent Democratic Conference–as well as a broad base of support in the New York State Assembly–Teach NYS is eager to continue pushing its 2017 policy agenda in Albany.
