The Shmuz in Houston, TX
On March 19th- 22nd, the Jewish community of Houston, Texas was privileged to host Rabbi Ben
Tzion Shafier of the Shmuz. On Thursday night, March 19th, Rabbi Shafier spoke at a “Fireside
Torah” event sponsored by the Houston Kollel. On Friday afternoon, Rabbi Shafier addressed
the middle school students of Yeshiva Torat Emet which was very much appreciated.
For Shabbos, Rabbi Shafier joined the Young Israel of Houston. Throughout the weekend, he
presented his powerful shmuzzin on the topics of Emunah and Bitachon, Tefillah and on the
timely subject of Pesach, “People Believe what they want to Believe.” The attendees took
advantage of Rabbi Shafier’s presence over Shabbos by asking him questions and meeting with
him privately.
The Shmuz is a Torah lecture that offers a worldview on major life issues ranging from working
on our middos to learning to be a better spouse, from understanding the meaning of our davening
to what is our purpose is in this world. Rabbi Ben Tzion Shafier has been delivering these
lectures across America and beyond for a decade.
