Andre Snaider, who has been a local men’s and women’s boutique shop owner in the Five Towns, is closing the doors after 45 years. He opened in September 1974 as Andre Boutique at 422 Central Avenue, next door to a cafe. In the last nine years, he moved to the current location at 460 Central Avenue, right next door to Wells Fargo Bank.
Andre has been a mainstay in town and endured through the changing demographics over the last two decades. He was compelled to close due to the effects of the COVID-19 lockdown, which shuttered his doors for four months.
Vendôme 2 offers the best in men’s and women’s clothing, working with brands such as French Dressing, Vex, and Tribal in the women’s section; Mantoni suits and Serica shirts for men; and Enzo, Hush Puppy, Bacco Bucci, and Mezlan shoes; as well as much more. All of the items must go and are priced as such in their store closing sale that will last for one week until November 13.
Andre says he is filled with a bittersweet feeling. On the one hand, he enjoyed such an enduring run on Central Avenue, developing a loyal customer base and close relationships with all the familiar faces that became an inextricable part of his life; on the other hand it is difficult having to close the store so abruptly due to the circumstances that have presented themselves over the past eight months.
Make it a point to stop by and wish Andre well. Maybe you’ll get yourself into a new outfit at a fraction of the regular price. All sales are final and everything must go within the next week.
