After much anticipation, Target is opening its Lawrence Five Towns store, located at 345 Rockaway Turnpike, on March 14. The store is open daily from 7:00 a.m.–10:00 p.m. Run out of aluminum foil? Looking for yom tov games for the kids? Hoping for a unique Seder table centerpiece? Is your family still craving chametz? Or are you craving some coffee and a chance to roam the aisles? Target has you covered. The store is categorized as “small format” though at approximately 43,000 square feet will feel spacious.

According to the spec sheet, the store will employ 90 team members and will sell apparel and accessories for the whole family; home décor and essentials; an assortment of health, personal care, and beauty products; grocery selection, including fresh produce, grab-and-go items, snacks, and meal solutions; and a Starbucks. The store also offers the option of Order Pickup, a safe, easy, and free service that allows guests to order items online, including fresh groceries, and pick up in store.

Target reports that with this opening, they now have 22 small-format locations and 86 total stores in the greater New York City area, which altogether employ nearly 19,700 team members. Target has been an active partner in the greater New York City area since opening its first area store in 1997. Target Circle, the retailer’s free, nationwide loyalty program, gives guests in the greater New York City area the ability to direct Target’s giving in the local community.

When it comes to Covid safety and employee perks, Target is ahead of the curve, investing $1 billion more in 2020 in the health, safety, and well-being of its team members compared to 2019. This includes five recognition bonuses, Target’s move to an industry-leading minimum wage of $15 in the U.S., paid leaves, coronavirus-related benefits, personal protective equipment, and a donation to the Target Team Member Giving Fund. Target offers increased safety and disinfecting measures and the ease and convenience of industry-leading same-day services, including Drive Up, Order Pickup, and Same-Day Delivery with Shipt.

Inclusivity is a core value at Target, and it established the Racial Equity Action and Change (REACH) committee to advance this work at a very critical moment in time and for the future.
