The famous pasuk in Devarim (30:19) declares, “I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and curse and you should choose life in order that you and your children may live…”
Did the Torah need to exhort us to choose life over death and blessings over curses? I mean, who in their right mind would choose the latter of the two options? A choice can only be made between two indistinguishable possibilities. If there is a feature or a virtue within one of the two options that you are naturally drawn to, then it does not constitute a choice. In fact, the two goats that the high priest used in his sacrificial service on Yom Kippur had to weigh the same, look the same, and be valued the same in order to be qualified for the service. Which means, as inconceivable as it may sound, that for a person to choose death over life, it means he thinks he is actually choosing life. Otherwise, it’s not a true choice.
It seems somewhat paradoxical because both parties are choosing what they consider life. How is it possible for someone to choose the opposite of life if they consider that life as well? The answer is, of course, that life and death are objective realities. However, as the saying goes, there are people who live for life and sadly, others who live for death and destruction. So, for them, death is their life, but it doesn’t make it life objectively. There is no doubt that if you question people on both ends of the political spectrum, supporters of Donald Trump will tell you that Donald Trump represents life, while supporters of Kamala Harris will insist that she represents life and they cannot envision life without her.
That’s why it’s important to have healthy and functioning moral compass in order to make the objectively correct decision. There has not been an issue since Harris entered the race for president about a week ago that her campaign has not lied about. Kamala Harris concealed the president’s state of well-being throughout his re-election bid until he was forced out by his own party when his declining mental acuity was out in the open for everyone to see. With questions surrounding the effectiveness or lack thereof of the current administration’s border policy, with all fingers pointed at the VP, who clearly bungled the role, Kamala Harris and her spokespeople are actively denying her role as border czar and are going so far as to erase all evidence that she was the border czar. However, they needed the FBI to investigate and confirm that Trump was indeed hit by a bullet rather than shrapnel. If the repeated lies are not enough, Kamala Harris has been running on an Anti-Family platform, where she repeatedly made adverse comments about couples having children and has vowed to reinstate Roe v. Wade, making abortions legal across the nation.
In his first term as president, despite Democrats trying to handicap him with endless hoaxes and allegations and a COVID-19 crisis that literally paralyzed the world, the Trump administration positioned America in a leadership role, producing a stellar economy with gas prices at a low, inflation non-existent, historic peace deals with Arab countries, no war between Russia and Ukraine, no war between Palestinians and Israelis. In fact, Donald Trump moved the American embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem while his detractors insisted that doing so would lead to all-out war, but in reality, it did not elicit a peep from America’s detractors. If you want an interesting fact: America’s enemies have been most emboldened to misbehave during the Biden, Obama, and Clinton years, which were all Democratic administrations. The Democratic Party has become the party of socialism and Marxism; Kamala Harris is a pro-war candidate under whom these conflagrations are not only sure to continue, but will most likely will start new ones. We cannot forget that the Biden White House has essentially been a third Obama term, which he ran from his basement in his pajamas, and that he is the mentor of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. Her administration will look more like what we have been living through these past four years as well as during Obama’s two terms in office.
A pro-life administration would never have to declare Israel’s right to defend itself against their enemies. In fact, Israel is our only moral ally in region, and a bastion of democracy and hope in the Middle East. They should be free to respond to the aggressions and incursions of their enemies however they see fit, and we should provide them the full support they need to neutralize the enemy. Kamala Harris has repeatedly said that the war in the Middle East is not a binary choice, and any declaration of Israel’s right to defend itself is only for the purpose of the inevitable conclusion of that statement, which expresses concern for the rising toll of civilian casualties in Gaza and a call for Israel to be more targeted in their response, as if that is even possible. There was another egregious sin committed by Kamala Harris in the early stages of her presidential campaign, and that is her silent acceptance of the segment of the Olympics that created a mockery of “The Last Supper,” originally painted by Leonardo da Vinci and presented by a band of transgender actors in what was seen by many Americans as an affront to their Christian values. The exception to this indignant reaction was Jill Biden and Kamala Harris.
In a profound analysis fueling the woke transgender ideology, Rabbi Nir Menussi of the Gal Einai organization, under the auspices of Rabbi Yitzchak Ginsburgh, in a class delving into the inner meaning of the opening act of the 2024 Olympics in France and the woke transgender ideology of the postmodern era in general, said: “Your body is your anchor to objective reality. If you untie your body from the shore of reality, then you start drifting into the ocean of subjective feelings.” The class, which is beyond the scope of this piece, can be seen in its entirety on YouTube by searching for “Rabbi Nir Menussi.” But I mention this here because just as there is a struggle between the objective and subjective definitions of gender and sex, the same is true concerning the objective and subjective views on life and freedom. The world is looking toward the Jews to take a leadership role on the matter of life and freedom, and the first step towards leading the world is the ability to choose correctly. Choose life.
