Israel is still an attractive destination for tourists despite the recent wave of Palestinian terrorism, the Israeli news site nrg reported on Monday.

According to the report, Tourism Ministry figures indicate a record number of visitors – 290,000 – entering the country during the month of October.

This constituted a 29% increase in the number of tourists (224,000) who came in September – and a 5% increase in the number of tourists who arrived in October of last year.

According to nrg, the data also revealed that 25,000 of the tourists who visited Israel last month were from Jordan and 8,000 from Egypt, constituting a 3% decrease from visits from those countries in October 2014.

The statistics indicate that the drastic decrease in tourism predicted by Israeli tourism officials was overly pessimistic, according to nrg.
