Sid Rosenberg is no longer just a New York radio personality. The 77 WABC host of “Sid and Friends in the Morning” has practically revolutionized what it means to be a radio show host, influencing listeners around the world while at the same time rediscovering his Jewishness.
To that end, as Israel prepares to observe the first anniversary of that wantonly violent Hamas terrorist attack on southern Israel on October 7, 2023, with more than 100 people still being held hostage, Rosenberg, 57, is heading to Israel to commemorate that fateful day.
Rosenberg, who has become one of the media’s greatest advocates and supporters of Israel, can be heard Monday through Friday from 6 to 10 a.m. in New York. The daily four-hour broadcast can also be heard on demand on the podcast station of Apple Media, the company owned by billionaire businessman, John Catsimatidis.
Sid will be heading to Israel after Rosh Hashanah hosted by the One Israel Fund, where he will be hosting four days of radio shows from a variety of locations, including a bomb shelter near the Sderot police station, Ariel University, and two shows from the studios of JNS, the Jewish News Syndicate in Jerusalem.
This is Rosenberg’s second trip to Israel within the year, reflecting his outlook and philosophy about the role of Israel vis-à-vis the world and how it impacts on every Jew regardless of where they live.
Fortunately, that is the type of impact Sid Rosenberg has, both locally and globally, thanks to the internet and satellite radio and podcasts.
Rosenberg is a long-time radio personality, but in the aftermath of October 7, he has shifted the paradigm of what it means to be a supporter of Israel, especially during these difficult times.
We wish Sid and his crew, who will be spending Yom Kippur in Israel, a happy and healthy new year. n
