
The annual Celebrate Israel Parade marched up Fifth Avenue on Sunday, June 4, with 40,000 people from over 250 organizations participating. New York also celebrated the 50th year of reunification for its sister city, Jerusalem.
Governor Andrew Cuomo, Mayor Bill de Blasio, and Senator Chuck Schumer marched along with Mayor of Jerusalem Nir Barkat, Ambassador Danny Danon, Consul General Dani Dayan, and nine members of the Israeli Knesset. Former New York Giants running back Tiki Barber and Jewish celebrity chef Jamie Geller served as Honorary Grand Marshals of the parade. The NYPD was of invaluable assistance as always.
Governor Cuomo declared June 4 to be Shimon Peres Day in the State of New York with Chemi Peres, the late former prime minister’s son, present.
