On June 2, Ben Heller, along with NORPAC’s Long Island leaders Stanley and Trudy Stern, hosted Senator Pat Toomey (R-PA) for a NORPAC event in Manhattan. Serving in the U.S. Senate since 2011, Toomey has been a strong and constant supporter of Israel. In the past, Toomey has called Israel one of the greatest allies of the U.S. and has emphasized the importance of strengthening the U.S.—Israel relationship to combat global terrorism.
At the NORPAC event, Senator Toomey took questions about the upcoming renewal of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), an agreement made between the U.S. and Israeli governments. The current MoU has the U.S. giving Israel $30 billion in the form of foreign aid over the course of 10 years. However, since the current MoU expires next year, a new MoU is in the process of being negotiated. Toomey stated that he supports a robust MoU and will work to ensure that Israel is granted the support that it needs.
Senator Toomey is running for reelection this November.
