Congregation Bais Tefilah of Woodmere is a warm and close-knit shul on the corner of Edward Ave. and Peninsula Blvd. in Woodmere. Bais Tefilah offers a full complement of daily and Shabbos minyanim, including two minyanim each morning, daily Minchah/Ma’ariv, late Ma’ariv, early and late Friday-night minyanim in the summer, and a hashkamah minyan on Shabbos. The shul also has a caring youth department, which operates from 9:00—11:15 every Shabbos morning, and ensures that every child gets the attention he or she needs while their parents are davening. Youth groups are structured and include davening, parashah, snack, and games. By 9:15 the sounds of the youth minyan fill the halls of Bais Tefilah. The minyan is run by teens and is a place where they can grow into davening for the amud, leining, or just davening in a minyan in which they feel comfortable.
Rabbi Ephraim Polakoff joined the Bais Tefilah family last summer and has already had an impact on the shul and the community at large. He delivers an engaging shiur in hilchos Shabbos on Monday nights, as well as shiurim on the parashah and contemporary halachic topics over Shabbos. His warmth and affable nature are inviting and have added to the overall warmth of the shul. His rebbetzin, Tova Polakoff, has also been an incredible addition to the Bais Tefilah family, giving shiurim to the women of the shul and the community. The shul has an exciting and ongoing slate of programming, including scholars-in-residence, guest speakers, Friday night onegs, melaveh malkas, yom tov events, Father’s Day barbecues, and more. The sisterhood is an active component of shul life, and coordinates special projects for the shul as well as independent social events. Many of these events are hosted in the beautiful and newly renovated social hall, which is available for rent as well. If you are looking for a friendly and close-knit shul, come join a minyan, attend a shiur, or just stop in to feel the warmth for yourself! Bais Tefilah looks forward to welcoming you into the family!
